Rep. Pramila Jayapal is now the second Democratic congresswoman to test positive for COVID-19
after being forced to shelter in a secure room with lawmakers who refused to wear masks during last Wednesday's siege of the Capitol. Jayapal, who represents Washington's 7th Congressional District, revealed her diagnosis in a tweet on Monday night, January 11, blaming Republicans for the infection. 'I just received a positive COVID-19 test result after being locked down in a secured room at the Capitol where several Republicans not only cruelly refused to wear a mask but recklessly mocked colleagues and staff who offered them one,' the 55-year-old posted.
